Pyrrhic Victory

Molon Labe CrossFit April Fool's WOD

Every 60 minutes On The Hour in 300 minutes: Got through 180 minutes or 3 of 5 Rounds

  • 2 mile Run

  • 20 Bench Presses (bodyweight) - I used 105#

  • 20 Front Squats (bodyweight) - I used 105#

  • 20 Rope Climbs (15 ft)

Partition the bench presses, front squats and rope climbs as needed

Okay - Well, I wasn't sure if I would get through this whole workout but it looked like something that would be fun to try!

First round I got through everything in 41:39.

Schematics:

Front Squats - 5/5/5/5

Bench - 7/6/7

Rope Climbs - 5/3/2/2/Rest Singles

Second Round in 42:50 but only 15 rope climbs. I felt like I would need about 20 minutes of rest to keep going so I stopped at 15. Plus, my hip flexors and feet were starting to really hurt, as well as my hands!

Schematics:

Front Squats - 5/5/5/5

Bench - 7/7/6

Rope Climbs - 5/then singles with 20 seconds of rest in between each. That helped with heart rate and grip but - like I said, it was my hip flexors and hands that started to hurt.

Third Round - Finished in 42:44. I had already decided that I would substitute pull-ups for the rope climbs after the last round. I usually do 3 pulls, per rope climb so I multiplied the 20 rope climbs by 3 and did 60.

Schematics:

Front Squats - 5/5/5/5

Bench - 6/7/7

Pull-ups - 15/15/15/15

This WOD is created by Molon Labe CrossFit (Macedonia, OH, USA) on April 1, 2017, as part of their yearly April Fool’s Challenge. “It’s not a joke and we had 7 folks do it…first 2 rounds about 20 min. Then it went downhill fast.”

According to the box their April Fool’s day challenges started back in 2014, when the WOD was 500 Burpees for Time. “Well, 4 people took it on as a challenge and every year since we put together something so foolish you would think nobody will do it. We always have a handful that do.”
